Website Redesign and the year to come

20/12/2013

If you are reading this, then I'm sure you have seen my site redesign!

It is the same site, but with a cleaner, more cutting edge style that compliments my graphic design and cartoons rather well. For reference, here is my old home page:
Picture
I made the site in 2011 after graduating from uni, so it was starting to show it's age. In 2012 I made the grid format home page, and I still think that is an effective way to welcome guests to my site.

I added a Branchy News Portal to the front page, that I can link to the rest of my site if I want to draw attention to something (an external site, an announcement etc). It should be a good way to keep up to date!

Onto some more exciting news: I have plans to announce a new cartoon, coming soon.

I promise I won't do another Project Climb Aboard: This one is the real deal. It's one I want to draw, but most importantly, I can draw.

Check the Blog or my Facebook page for that announcement!

I recently launched this nice little website for a local massage therapy business in Scottsdale. It turned out to be a nice therapeutic job for myself, the design was very soothing!

Life as a Graphic Design Graduate

Aside from applying for jobs, here is what I have been up too lately! (Been a long time since my last post regarding Project Climb Aboard)

  1. Freelance work: I have been completing a website for a client in Scottsdale, and so far it is going very good! Some constructive feedback has been received, and the result should look outstanding! I am also conducting research for a new project I am doing with a friend of mine, which should be a rewarding venture.
  2. Personal work: I have been writing the back story for my graphic novel, drawing initial characters and settings should begin soon. Hang in there!

Apart from that, I have been to Melbourne twice to Soundwave 2013 and Guns n' Roses, all within two weeks!

I will be releasing more info shortly on Project Climb Aboard, so watch out for that!

Man time flies!

Over the past month I have been learning a bunch at university, doing freelance work (Including logos and a website) and in general preparing for the future.

Overall it has been pretty rich and rewarding, both personally and professionally.

This is only a short post because nothing major has happened, so look forward to some big news in the near future hopefully!

Yesterday I received my first ever cheque for a graphic design job!

A big thanks to the gentlemen at Letterworks, it was a pleasure doing your website! I hope all my clients in the future are as good as you!

The money obtained will go towards future projects for Branchy Design, including maintaining websites and launching Bogan's Corner: The Webcomic.

In business card news, they came in the mail on Friday, yet I didn't end up collecting them. Mum will collect them on Monday, as at that stage I will be at university back in Hobart.

I recently launched a website for Letterworks, the signwriter that I have done work experience for in the past. You can view it here:   http://www.letterworks.com.au/

It was a nice website to design, mostly because of the fantastic feedback I got from Tim and Michael. With their cooperation we were able to launch the site less than a week after I began designing it!

Hopefully the rest of my clients in the future will be like this to work with, but I don't know, clientsfromhell.net still makes me nervous...

Branchy out,

Update on Progress

Over the past few days I have been doing several design related projects. This is a long blog post, so bear with me!

One project has been trying to design a business card for myself, which hasn't been too easy. I have settled on a final design, as shown here:

I tried to keep in theme with my website, and I think it conveys the "Less is More" message very well.

In website related news, I undertook the web design process for Letterworks, Scottsdale. I went around Scottsdale with Michael Jacobson, taking photos of the Signwriter's work. It was a rewarding afternoon, some great shots popped up!

The site layout is finished and soon will be ready to launch, after we have finished some more content.

Check this space for more design related stuff!

WEB DESIGN!

My web design adventures have only just begun!

Even though I only did a one semester course in web design, it has already become such a big part of the start of my career.

As I am writing this, I have a website ready to go live, TO THE INTERNET. (As soon as the client is ready...) I am about to start another one for a local business in Scottsdale. It's going to be quite an experience, and the money won't hurt either!

Watch this blog for more updates in the future!

Right now I have been constructing two websites, one for a client and another for myself and my webcomic ambitions. Both are nearing completion!

You can view my webcomic site at www.boganscorner.weebly.com.

Very soon I will launch the site, and if enough traffic gets through it could possibly grow even more!

Hope you enjoy!
